Mechanical Breakdown Protection (MBP)

Once your vehicle’s factory warranty expires, it is no longer covered if it experiences an unexpected mechanical breakdown. Mechanical Breakdown Protection, also known as an extended warranty, can replace that protection.

While every Mechanical Breakdown Protection option offered by Elements is slightly different, in general, it covers failure of major vehicular systems, including your:

• Transmission

Extended auto warranties like Mechanical Breakdown Protection are a way to pay for expensive mechanical repairs, but they don’t cover everything. MBP does not cover routine car-maintenance expenses — such as oil changes and tire rotations — or damage caused by either poor maintenance or accidents.

Mechanical Breakdown Protection does not cover:

• New filters
• New sparkplugs
• New brake pads
• New tires
• Adding fluids (coolant, oil, wiper fluid, etc.)
• Other major repairs categorized as normal maintenance

They are actually different names that mean the same thing, so you can use the terms interchangeably. There are, however, usually significant differences in the value of the warranty offered by Elements and warranties offered by dealerships. See the next question for further details.

Usually, Elements’ Mechanical Breakdown Protection is less expensive, offers better coverage, is more flexible, and has a $0 deductible.

The cost for Mechanical Breakdown Protection (MBP) varies based on your vehicle year, make, model, mileage, and other factors. We’ll need to know these things before we can provide you a quote. Our deductible is always $0, though, so that’s something you can know for sure!

2. Take our call - We'll contact you within one business day after you submit your application to go over what documentation we'll need and to answer your questions. 
3. That’s it! - We'll contact you with a decision within two business days. Once your application is approved, we’ll contact you to sign documents and then you are protected with MBP!
