As account takeover fraud continues to rise, we are taking proactive steps to protect your financial security. As of May 1, 2025. we’ve implemented new ID-proofing security measures when accessing your accounts in person at our Elements Branches and Shared Branch locations. This added layer of fraud prevention ensures that it’s truly you trying to access your accounts, not an imposter.
How it Works:
For members who bank at one of our Shared Branch locations, our tellers can now authenticate and verify identities for out-of-state IDs. This process uses a combination of a QR code and a one-time passcode, enhancing security for a range of transactions, including loan payments, cashier’s checks, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and account inquiries. Only those using a government-issued ID outside of the state where they are visiting a branch will be required to use this process.
Here’s how you can authenticate your identity:
- Scan the QR code located in the branch or visit verify.coop.org.
- Select your credit union’s name from a drop-down list.
- Enter your member number and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- Upload a photo of your ID.
- Take a selfie. Tip: Save your validation for a faster experience next time!
- Show your one-time passcode to the teller (passcode is valid for 20 minutes).
This simple yet effective process helps to keep your accounts safe, offering peace of mind during every in-branch visit.
